About Decenter
Decenter is built on an essential truth: our food system must be transformed to have a stable, just and biodiverse planet.
Decenter is an independent publication showcasing thoughtful and disruptive writing on how our food industry intersect with technology, politics and culture. We take an environmental perspective that encompasses the impact of our food choices on the climate, animals and land. Publications will cover:
- Food tech and other "clean investments"
- Environmental politics and foreign policy.
- Art, music and literature that grounds us again in nature.
We will share content that allows us to learn, care and act as a community.
Our mission
Over centuries, evolutions in science, psychology and philosophy have rediscovered that humans aren't at the center of life and the universe. Our mission is to decenter humans again in the fight to protect the environment. This isn't to sideline or harm humans. We want to instead recenter nature in our ideas and actions so that we can reconnect equitably with animals, the natural word and ourselves.
Decenter comes to you from the Pacific Northwest of the United States but we take a holistic look at our interconnected planet.
